Great stuff :)
The girl second from the right reminds me of my character Masresha Gebrehabtam with my other character Lalla Degife's personality :D
A couple of them look like Amharas too :)

I've always noticed that your artwork was a bit on the realistic side, but it's not unreasonably so, where everything you draw has to look a damn photograph.:XD: I love it. Very nice work; I just realized I don't got you on my watch list. No wonder why you haven't been showing up in my inbox except through the club. :|

We didn't mind the time it took. Art should be done when the heart calls and never under duress or pressure.

Oh my god!!! Why do you have to draw realistic human anatomy and strive to improve yourself?!
You're a pervert! :P

:D

Just kidding. ;)
Still though, this is really a remarkable piece. You floor me with your talent. You really do.
I don't know where to even begin stating how awesome this one is. There's just so much detail, it's absolutely astonishing!

Excellent, though I don't think the Ethiopians had pyramids like Egyptians and Nubians. You should have drawn an Axumite Stela instead.

Thanks, but I actually did find a few ancient buildings that resembled stretched-out pyramids from the Ethiopians: [link]

They're the pyramids of Meroe, which used to be the Capital of the Kingdom of Kush.

They might very well have had Egyptian influence, though.

Kush = Nubia/Sudan, not Ethiopia.
Reply
:iconhaodan:
haodan Featured By Owner Oct 2, 2010  Student Digital Artist
Yes, but it was referred to as Ethiopia by Greek texts. The "Ethiopians" in the actual picture are actually from the kingdom of Kush, but I didn't want to use terms people who aren't that deep into ancient history wouldn't be familiar with.

:iconbrandonpilcher:
BrandonPilcher Featured By Owner Oct 2, 2010   Photographer
Oh, I understand. Still, "Nubia" is as far as I can tell a familiar place name, so that would have worked as well as "Ethiopia".

Anyway, it's still a great piece of artwork!

Actually, Nubian is an erroneous term from the 17th century referring to a tribe called the Noba, who were wrongly thought to have been the direct descendants of the Kushites and Aksumites, when in fact, there was no one people or tribe that composed these ancient Kingdoms.

The area south of Egypt was first called "Ethiopia" by the Greeks, a name that the Aksumites adopted later on, so, Ethiopia is was not originally the name of a Kingdom or country, but of a region that included the Kingdom of Kush, the modern country Sudan and Ethiopia.

Lol, finally someone who knows that. It was never called Ethiopia, just like Egypt wasn't even the real name of the land.

Hm, you're right on that one. I just got so used to calling them "Ethiopians." xD

And thanks! I appreciate that. :)
